Squad Card compared with a joint credit card

A joint card is one account, two people, all the liability. A squad is one line, four lanes.

Few issuers even offer joint credit cards anymore, and the ones that exist make each holder responsible for the entire balance for as long as the account is open. Squad Card is designed for the same need, sharing credit with people you trust, with the liability drawn the way people actually live: your lane is yours.

What a joint card commits you to
The options people use now, and where each one breaks.
  • Both holders are liable for the full balance, including spending they never saw.
  • Closing it means paying it off together, even after a breakup or a falling out.
  • Every late payment lands on both files.
How Squad Card is designed to work
One shared line. A private lane per member. A reserve released by vote.

Several liabilityEach member is responsible for their own lane. The reserve is shared only by the members who vote to release it, and each takes a capped share.

Room for fourA joint card stops at two. A squad holds four seats, so a couple can bring a sibling or a close friend.

Leaving is designed inA member who leaves has their lane frozen and settled; the rest of the squad is re-assessed. Nobody is trapped in someone else's balance.

Questions people ask

Is Squad Card a joint account?

No. It is designed as one shared line with several liability. Each member answers for their own lane.

Can only two people use it?

A squad holds up to four seats: the host and three people they invite.

What is the reserve?

The part of the line held back for what the squad agrees on together. Drawing on it takes a vote; each approver takes a capped share of that draw. The group total never changes.

Is Squad Card available now?

Not yet. Squad Card is on a waitlist while we finish the program with our issuing bank partner. Joining the waitlist saves your seat, lets you form your squad, and gives you a free Experian score and report while you wait.

Does joining the waitlist affect my credit?

No. Joining takes a first name and an email. If you choose to check your free Experian score, that is a soft inquiry you initiate yourself; it never appears to lenders and does not change your score.

What does it cost?

The waitlist and the free Experian score cost nothing and require no card. Card pricing, credit lines and terms will be published when the program launches and depend on approval by the issuing bank.
